Liverpool striker Dani Pacheco is starting to find his feet in the Spanish second division.
Dani Pacheco urged Brendan Rodgers to give him a chance earlier in the season when Liverpool only had Luis Suarez as an attacking option, but Rodgers resisted the urge to pile the pressure onto the 22-year-old, choosing to send him out on loan instead.
He went to SD Huesca in the second tier of Spanish football and it’s still early days, but all of the early indications are that he’ll return to Liverpool as a much more complete and dynamic forward.
He’s only made three appearances for the Spanish club but he’s already bagged his first goal for the club and is just 50 minutes short of the total time he played for Rayo Vallecano last season, when he didn’t score any goals.
So there are improvements and that’s exactly what Rodgers will be looking for. He’s started two of the games he’s played so he’s quickly turning himself into one of the first choice attacking players at Huesca which is significant.
Liverpool and Rodgers sent him out on loan so he could gain experience and opportunities which the club couldn’t give him. They didn’t send him out on loan for the sake of it.
It’s all been very savvy by Rodgers because he’s aware the club has been under a lot of pressure this season and for Pacheco to get criticism from fans at such a young age, may ultimately be mentally damaging to him.
It’s also given Pacheco the chance to go back to Spain, a life and a culture that he already knows and enjoys.
All he can do now is maintain the positive performances he’s been putting to give Rodgers a real headache when he returns.
If he can get close to ten goals or over by the end of the season then Rodgers may feel as though he doesn’t have to go out and buy another striker in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool fans, what do you make of Pacheco at the moment?
