Manchester United pre-game latest: Reading team news and Fergie's Treble talk

All of the latest Manchester United news.

Sir Alex Ferguson expects Manchester United to mount a serious push for the treble. Defender Chris Smalling has revealed that the United boss has told his players he expects them to win everything by the end of the season following the tough away tie in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

Robin Van Persie says he is dreading the end of the season because he wants to play every game for Manchester United. The Dutchman has revealed he wants to play a key role in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup campaigns despite suggestions he will be rested for the match against Reading later.

Midfielder Anderson could find himself in trouble at Old Trafford after criticising the club’s rotation policy. The midfield man is expected to start in the FA Cup match against Reading this evening but has suggested the policy of frequently changing players can affect performance.

Chris Smalling says he was amazed when he heard Manchester United had not won the FA Cup for nine years. Smalling is set to start in the centre of defence for the fifth round tie against Reading this evening and has revealed he wants to play a big role in ending the drought.

Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has revealed that he still wants to be the number one at Manchester United. The 28-year-old has become second choice due to the recent form of David De Gea but he is insisting that he is still good enough to takeover the number one role at the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson has publicly backed out of form midfielder Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese star has struggled to make an impact since signing from Borussia Dortmund but Fergie has defended him, stating it’s difficult to move to the Premier League from a division which is less physical.

Robin Van Persie has revealed his fears about retiring from professional football. Van Persie says he is petrified of losing the buzz and excitement before playing in big games which suggests he may stay on in a football related career when he hangs up his boots.

Tom Cleverley says he is delighted that Danny Welbeck has hit a good run of form. Welbeck scored in the Champions League match against Real Madrid last week and both players are set to feature in the FA Cup tie against Reading which takes place this evening.

Former Manchester United centre back Steve Bruce has suggested Ryan Giggs will stay on at Old Trafford after he retires. Bruce has suggested that United may offer Giggs some form of coaching role which will allow Giggs to continue his involvement with the club.
