Could Antonio Conte be the right man for Chelsea?

Stamford Bridge Outside

Antonio Conte could be a good candidate to take over the manager’s job at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte is being linked with several high profile jobs this summer with Real Madrid and Chelsea thought to be the two clubs interested in chasing him.

He could be just what Chelsea need because there are several reasons why he would be a great coach for Chelsea with their current crop of first team players.

His passion and enthusiasm for football seems to be huge. This was demonstrated during Juventus’ recent Champions League win at Celtic when he literally went mad each time his Italian giants scored a goal.

Tactically he’s as good, if not better than, the other coach being heavily linked with a move back to Chelsea; Jose Mourinho.

Conte seems to know the right system, formation and methods to use to get the better of any high profile side. Tactics have played a large part in Juventus’ current Serie A campaign, particularly their away form.

However, there is a very simple reason he may be put off from becoming manager of Chelsea and that’s Roman Abramovich.

Conte is the sort of coach who likes to have complete control and authority over a team so there could be friction between coach and owner before he’s even started the job full time.

He’s also got quite a high profile and volatile sort of personality which may not sit well with the big spending Russian who prefers to be the one pulling the strings.

The current European champions certainly wouldn’t have any problems triggering the compensation clause in his current deal at Juventus which is set at £7.5 million.

If his main concern over a lack of stability at Chelsea can be addressed then he could ne just what they need; a pro-active manager to come in, get players by the scruff of their necks and get them churning out results.

However, any Chelsea fan would more than like welcome Mourinho back before taking a punt on Conte and that may be the priority of the club if the Portuguese leaves Real Madrid this summer. But Conte remains a decent underdog nonetheless if the Special One can't be convinced.

Chelsea fans, what do you make of Conte? Would you want him?
