Celtic lost their Champions League first leg with Juventus 3-0 last night, and that was at home - leaving them with an impossible task heading to Turin for the return game.
One of Celtic's most coveted players is Victor Wanyama, with it reported by the Telegraph that the Kenyan was scouted by Arsenal last night, with Arsene Wenger identifying a holding midfielder as a priority for the summer.
Wanyama has been an impressive figure all season long, standing out in their 2-1 group stage victory over Barcelona, in which he scored an early header.
Last night against Juventus the scoreline did not go Celtic's way, but Wanyama was not short on effort.
He fired in more shots than any Celtic player, save for Kris Commons, even if only one of his four attempts was on target. Wanyama completed 90 per cent of his passes, a higher ratio than any of his teammates.
Wanyama was also the joint team-leader in tackles made, with four, as he sought to put the brakes on Juventus' attacks.
But stats only tell half the story, a more telling account of how Wanyama played can be gauged from these reactions from Arsenal fans watching who commented on the midfielder on Twitter:
@jamesmijnlieff: Pirlo literally has had no chance of dictating. Wanyama must be a future gunner.
@topgooner100: OK now Celtic are practically Out can we start working on bringingWanyama to Arsenal please :)
@thegoonerboy: Wanyama is a far better option than Diame in my opinion
@m4fyew: Wanyama would be a great addition in the summer
@arsenal_jt: Victor Wanyama is worth the hype. PL top 4 quality!
@fc_arsenal_hu: Wanyama is good. So good. JUST 22! Imagine that! I'll be gutted if he goes to Old Trafford. Wenger should go&get him in the summer.
Were you equally as impressed by Wanyama? Where will he play next season and how much is he worth?
