Moussa Sissoko has made a brilliant impact since he joined Newcastle United but it’s a move that would never have happened had the player got his way.
Sissoko has talked about his love and admiration for Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira and says he dreamt about the chance of emulating his hero at the Gunners.
Sissoko says growing up, he watched the great Arsenal team which had a high volume of French players and he wanted to make a move to the Gunners to be part of it.
“When I was little the Arsenal team with all the French players made a mark on me - I loved Thierry Henry (pictured right) and especially Patrick Vieira, who played the same position as me,” said Sissoko as per newcastleunited-mad.
However, his career didn’t pan out the way he’d have hoped as he settled into a six-year spell at Toulouse before making a £1.8 million move to Newcastle United.
However, he doesn’t seem to regret the way his career has turned out and he’s already stated his love and desire to have a very long career at Newcastle.
The worrying factor for the club is if Arsene Wenger decides at some point in the next one or two years that he wants Sissoko, it could be very difficult for Newcastle to stop him leaving for the Gunners.
Any other club wouldn’t be a problem but when a player harbours this desire, it’s difficult to stop them; Ronaldo’s move from Manchester United to Real Madrid being the perfect example.
As long as he keeps doing the business for Newcastle United, there won’t be too many members of the Toon Army that are bothered, it’s when his performances start to be affected by rumours etc that they can get angry.
However, that doesn’t look as though it’s going to happen any time soon.
Newcastle fans, are you bothered?
