Monday night saw Liverpool dealt a scathing loss as former employee Steve Clarke’s West Brom leapfrogged them in the Premier League table with a win at Anfield. Goals from Gareth McCauley and a late strike for Romelu Lukaku condemned Liverpool to Anfield misery but it would be fair to say that the goals came slightly against the run of play.
Liverpool held on to possession well throughout the game as you would expect and had sustained pressure on the West Brom goal but unfortunately found Ben Foster in fine fiddle between the sticks. The former Manchester United stopper was particulary cruel to Steven Gerrard; not content with saving his penalty at full stretch but also denying him with a superb reflex save.
Foster has been in great form for West Brom since completing his move across Birmingham from Birmingham City in 2011 and many have already started talking of a potential U-turn on his retirement from international football.
Why is it when goalkeepers retire from international football their form suddenly increases?
Needless to say; West Brom fans would be more than happy to keep him all to their selves…
Here is some reaction on Twitter to another great performance from the 29-year-old…

There will be a lot of fellow #LFC fans still pissed off this morning, but try to remember Ben Foster had the game of his life last night.
