Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Obika and Eriksen

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has publicly thanked Brad Friedel for his help in developing as club number one. The French goalkeeper said the man he replaced has helped him build knowledge about opponents and their traits going into matches, experience which has been beneficial to Lloris on the pitch.

Tottenham had to charter a private jet to get Emmanuel Adebayor back for the Newcastle game in the end, costing around £160,000. The Mirror have reported the player will be fined, but Andre Villas-Boas has said details will remain private.

Danish sensation Christian Eriksen has reportedly placed Tottenham on alert by refusing to sign a new contract with Ajax. The attacker had previously stated he was likely to move on in the summer, and this latest development confirms he is likely to be off. Former teammate Jan Vertonghen has previously said he would welcome Eriksen at Spurs, but several English sides will rival Tottenham for his signature.

Young forward John Obika continued his prolific 2013 with a winning goal for Spurs' under-21 side in a match against Liverpool, ending the Reds' 14-game unbeaten run. Harry Kane also featured up front, while new signing Ezekiel Fryers continued his development by playing 90 minutes in defence.

Gareth Bale is rightly attracting all the plaudits after his two-goal show at the weekend against Newcastle, but the player himself said he is frustrated not to have scored a hat-trick. We have taken a look at the stats and considered how he has improved as a player since Andre Villas-Boas' arrival. Jamie Redknapp has even gone as far as to hail Bale as this year's Robin van Persie.

Tottenham's South Korean target Son Heung-Min had a weekend to remember in the Bundesliga, netting twice as Hamburg demolished Dortmund away from home. You can watch the video of his goals here. Former Spurs attacker Rafael van der Vaart also attracted controversy in the match, after admitting deliberately getting an opponent sent off.

And finally, Arsene Wenger has issued a warning to Spurs, stating Arsenal will not give up in their pursuit of Tottenham and fourth place as the season ticks on.
