Cesar Azpilicueta believes that Chelsea can rescue their disappointing season with success in the Europa League and FA Cup. Chelsea play the first leg of their Europa league tie with Sparta Prague and their FA cup 4th round replay with Brentford this week, and the Spanish right back said it was vital to their season that the club progressed in both competitions.
After scoring his 9th goal in 14 games, Frank Lampard has said it’s not hard to work out why he is playing so well, as it is simply down to him playing more matches:
“It's not rocket science. The more you play you get sharper and you get match fit.
"Since I've been able to play regularly I feel like I've got sharpness and the confidence.”
Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has praised the 34 year old midfielder, and backed Lampard to be a key part of the England team at the World Cup in 2014, should Roy Hodgson’s side qualify for the tournament.
Benitez also said he was pleased with David Luiz’s performances in the centre of midfield for Chelsea, saying that the Brazilian’s work in that position was allowing Lampard and Ramires to operate in more advanced positions.
Chelsea outcast Florent Malouda has issued another stinging attack on the club's treatment of him, describing his treatment as 'petty'. He adds he will 'blow the roof off' the events at the club surrounding him in recent months once his contract expires this summer.
Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a summer switch the Chelsea, saying that he intends to see out his contract at Borussia Dortmund, which expires in 2016.
“I have a contract until 2016. I have said 20 times I'll definitely stay until 2016. Everybody thinks I say it but that if a club like Chelsea or Real Madrid come in for me, I will go. This is something I can't change but they will see.”

Jack Butland has said that whilst it was a little awkward at first meeting up with Chelsea players in the England squad, once he explained why he had turned down a move to Blues, they understood. Butland rejected a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of Stoke, where he hopes have a greater chance of first team action.
There have been reports that Chelsea might be prepared to offer goalkeeper Thibuat Courtois as a makeweight in a move for Atletico Madrid striker Falcao. Courtois is currently spending his second season on loan at the Spanish club.
