Brendan Rodgers says he will not rush new signing Philippe Coutinho into the side. Liverpool signed the forward from Inter Milan last month but Rodgers has resisted the temptation to state whether or not he will definitely make an appearance against West Brom this evening.

Daniel Sturridge is in a race against team to be fit for the match against West Brom this evening. The former Chelsea striker picked up a thigh injury during Liverpool’s recent draw at Manchester City and he is being rated as 50/50 to start in the Premier League clash later.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke has suggested that Liverpool are playing the best football in the Premier League despite what the stats suggest. Clarke has admitted that he has been impressed by the way Liverpool have played this season, with a very young team in some difficult matches.

Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Christian Eriksen after news that he’s rejected a new contract from current club Ajax. Early reports suggested Eriksen would wait to see what offer was made by the Dutch giants before deciding how he would go about his future this summer.

Defender Martin Kelly is targeting a return to the Liverpool first team before the end of January. Kelly picked up a bad knee injury during the league clash against Manchester United last September which has kept him out of Premier League action ever since.

Stewart Downing has revealed that he is still not 100% sure whether he has a long term future at Liverpool. The winger was told that he could leave the club last month but he decided to fight his way back into the first team and he’s been indispensible ever since.

Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to midfielder Lucas ahead of his 200th appearance for Liverpool. Rodgers has praised Lucas’ work ethic and many may be surprised that he’s on the verge of having made so many appearances for the club during his career at Anfield.

Former Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke says the club is benefiting from the recent Kenny Dalglish era. Clarke suggests that the basic spine of the current team was formed by Dalglish and has been admirably improved by Brendan Rodgers since he took over as manager.

Steven Gerrard has described teammate and friend Jamie Carragher as one of the best defenders he’s ever played with. Gerrard has suggested that during the peak of his career, Carragher could be rated as one of the best two or three central defenders in the game.
