David Beckham’s highly awaited debut for PSG looks to be coming sooner than first imagined.

The most high profile capture of this seasons January transfer window was PSG’s signing of David Beckham. It was a move that may have caught some by surprise, but was a shrewd statement of intent for the mega rich French club and their lofty ambition of becoming the biggest football brand in the World.

There was never any question that wherever Beckham chose as his next, and most likely final, football home that the circus would be following. Without even kicking a football giant images of the English icon have been plastered along Champs-Elysées. In readiness for Beck’s arrival the clubs Camp des Loges training ground has been shielded from public view by tarpaulins and the vicinity where fans used to watch the players practice has been closed.

Now it seems that fans won’t have to wait for as long as expected to get their first glimpse of Beckham donning the red and blue of Paris Saint Germain. Having not ran his ‘golden balls’ around a competitive playing field since December 1st, when he won the MLS Cup Final with La Galaxy, Becks is making good progress.

The former England captain and first football fashion icon has been working closely with PSG’s fitness staff and it is thought that his French debut could come as early next weekend against Sochaux, instead of the intended February 27th fixture with Marseille.

PSG Manager Carlos Ancelotti said of Becks, "He's worked really well, and is going to continue through to Friday. Next week, when we get back from Valencia, he'll be with us. He needs two weeks' work. Perhaps he'll be available for the Sochaux game or the week after. There's no particular problem, just improving his physical condition."

Beckham himself has also been pleased with his advancement and is looking forward to getting started, "It's going really well. I feel much better than I did two weeks ago. We're working hard and I like that. Simon and Gael have done some fantastic work. I've trained the whole week and I'm really looking forward to teaming up with the whole squad.

"I'm impatient to meet my new team-mates and discover the Parc des Princes. There are some great players in the team, and I'm really looking forward to training with them and working hard for the club. I hope to be able to help them win something soon."

Beckham’s desire to see PSG win something appear to be coming to fruition already with the French club now sitting 6 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after beating Bastia 3-1.

But it’s not just fans that are waiting to witness Beckham get started either, top scorer Ibrahimovic has recently been quoted as hailing the positive impact that the aging midfielder will have on the club, "Now, we're not only good, but we're handsome too. His attitude and his love of competition are going to take us to a higher level."
