Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Phil Jones midfield performance

Manchester United cruised 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League yesterday, and Phil Jones was one of the brightest performers.

Shingles? Phil Jones made a mockery of claims he would be unfit and miss a month of action after supposedly 'falling ill'.

He put in an all-action display in Manchester United's midfield for 56 minutes at Old Trafford against Everton yesterday, playing a part in a 2-0 win.

He hobbled off after what Sir Alex Ferguson post-match described as a 'kick in the calf', adding that Jones will be monitored ahead of Wednesday's clash with Real Madrid.

After missing the early stages of the season, Jones has worked himself into an important man at United, as shown by his selection against Everton.

He was picked in central midfield ahead of Michael Carrick, tasked with nullifying the threat of Marouane Fellaini, and it was a task he performed excellently.

In his 56 minutes, Jones made five interceptions - more than any other midfield player on the pitch made the whole game. His passing accuracy of 94 per cent was also the highest of any player.

And perhaps most importantly, Fellaini - Such a regular dangerman against United, failed to register a single shot on target.

But it wasn't just us he impressed. Countless Twitter users took to the social networking site to praise Jones' performance. You can read a selection of them below:
