Paul Lambert has revealed that his Aston Villa side drive him close to insanity at times. Villa have been in good positions in several matches this season but have allowed the opposition back into the match, to either grab a late draw or sneak a victory and it’s driving the boss crazy.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that £2 million signing Yacouba Sylla can make rapid improvements. Sylla was thrown in at the deep end for his debut against Everton last weekend, after a much criticised transfer from French second division club Clermont Foot.

Paul Lambert says he doesn’t care about the style of football his team plays over the coming weeks. Lambert has suggested Villa need to start winning ugly if they are to avoid relegation to the Championship. Villa are on a current run of eight matches without a win.

Ron Vlaar has insisted that Aston Villa will stay in the Premier League come the end of the season. The Villa captain has been at the heart of a defence which has been leaking goals but he insists the club still have enough belief and quality to get out of trouble.

Aston Villa have the fourth best record from corners in the Premier League this season. They may be stuck in a relegation dogfight but their record of eight goals from 168 corners so far this season has been bettered by only QPR, West Brom and Sunderland.

Gary Gardner says he’s nearly fit, fresh and ready to fight for Aston Villa over the rest of the season. Gardner’s career was threatened due to a bad knee injury but he’s talked about the light at the end of the tunnel and has thanked the Aston Villa staff for putting him close to a return.

Aston Villa loan signing Simon Dawkins says he feels blessed to be given a chance to play for the club. Dawkins’ career was threatened by injury and he has talked about the way he now values every second he gets in the game because of the power and magnitude of football.

Aston Villa central defender Ciaran Clark grabbed a goal for the Republic of Ireland as they ran out winners in a friendly against Poland. Clark cracked in a shot just before half time which is one of the rare occasions he’s scored. He’s made just four appearances for Ireland.

Christian Benteke has tried to deflect attention away from himself by suggesting fellow countryman Romelu Lukaku is a better player. Benteke has scored 14 goals so far this season as he remains the most likely threat and person to drag Aston Villa out of the bottom three.
