Neymar raises the stakes ahead of tonight's clash

Neymar has taken another stab at England by criticising them for being a one man team.

For some reason Neymar seems to harbour some sort of bitterness towards England. When rumours first surfaced about a move to Chelsea, he lashed out criticising various aspects of English culture and rubbishing the Premier League.

He’s now gone a step further by insisting that England are a nothing team without Wayne Rooney. He’s getting close to rivalling Mario Balotelli in the way he conducts himself.

“England are a good team with some very good players — but I don’t look at them as one of our main rivals for the World Cup. Maybe they rely too much on Rooney — once you look past him you don’t see an obvious player who can win them a match. But Brazil have got many players who can,” he said as reported in The Sun.

He suggests that Spain, Argentina, Germany, Brazil and several more countries can all rely on other players if one of their main stars has a big game but it seems a little naïve to rule out England’s World Cup chances just yet.

Fair enough, every time a major tournament comes round, we are all pulling our hair out at the way England play and the ultimate penalty shoot out which always puts us out of a tournament.

However, England have a very entrenched and determined way of playing when it comes to the big tournaments and the ethos of tem spirit is vital to that style.

Had the million penalty shoot outs England have lost gone the other way, the country could well have enjoyed some success with the current generation of players because after all, shoot outs are a bit of a lottery.

Neymar is expected to start in the match against England this evening as he continues to be heavily tipped for a move to Spain to play for Barcelona.

However, there are several reasons to ignore his comments about England and the English game; he has absolutely no experience of football in the country or even being in the country for any length of time.

Chelsea seem to have moved on from the speculation surrounding them trying to sign him and Manchester City seem the only other likely candidate because they can pay him whatever he wants to play for them.

Take it with a pinch of salt England fans and here’s to hoping that Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott or another England youngster makes him eat his words later on.

Does Neymar have a point? Tell us what you think.
