Five reasons Sagna would be wrong to join PSG

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna continues to be linked with a big money move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Bacary Sagna is one of the best right backs in the Premier League so it’s only natural that he will be linked with moves to the biggest sides.

He has told Arsenal fans not to blame him for the links which are apparently coming from different sources. If he needed a reminder of why it would be a bad move to join PSG, here’s why.

Team Role

His team role would change entirely from the one he currently enjoys with the Gunners. When he’s fit, he is first choice for Arsenal but PSG have such a vast array of talent he could be warming the bench as soon as he has a bad game under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Manager

Arsene Wenger is better suited to developing Sagna’s game to a more advanced point. Carlo Ancelotti does not lack experience but Wenger has a better method for developing his game technically which is one of the things which is going to give him a long club and international career. Most of all, Ancelotti's position is unstable despite their success.

Sagna knows he is relatively secure at Arsenal in terms of his future. The club has a strict business model, sticks to it and doesn’t splash cash trying to win silverware. There is no guarantee if he joins PSG, that the club won’t just buy another right back in 12 months which pushes Sagna’s ambitions backwards.

The Gunners have a much more loyal and devoted support base than PSG. Both clubs have fans all over the world but if Sagna shows Arsenal fans a little bit of faith and loyalty, it’s something they won’t forget and something which will work for him over the rest of his career in North London.

His reputation could go up in smoke if he moves to PSG because many would simply brand it a money related transfer. This would destroy the basic values that Sagna has built up as a player. He couldn’t be criticised for taking a better wage deal but his reputation as an honest and decent defender may evaporate.

Arsenal fans, tell us what you think about this issue.
