Arsenal new boy Olivier Giroud has claimed he has had a better start to his career than that of Robin Van Persie. Giroud has pointed out that he has already scored more goals in his debut season then the Dutchman did in his first season in North London. In 2004-05 RVP managed 10 goals in 41 appearances while Giroud has already scored 14 goals in 33 games this season. However Van Persie was only 21 in his debut term compared to Giroud’s 26 while the Dutchman also played the majority of his games out wide.
Bacary Sagna has once again made it clear that he has absolutely no intention of leaving Arsenal this summer. The French international has been consistently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and has refused to sign a contract extension. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2014 but Sagna insists he will honour his current deal.
Ashley Cole has revealed that a chat with Arsenal legend David Rocastle was a major factor in the spurring of his early career. The England full-back is set to make his 100th cap for his country tonight; a vast majority of which he made whilst an Arsenal player. Yet a talk with his boyhood hero Rocastle truly fuelled his ambition to make it as an England international.
Arsenal are reportedly one of three Premier League teams who have been offered the services of PSG defender Mamadou Sakho. The French international is reportedly ready to quit at the French capital after growing increasingly unhappy at the lack of first team opportunities at the big spending club. Newcastle United and Manchester City are the other two teams reportedly being offered his services.
Arsenal are set for a massive summer clear-out with as many as 12 players on the verge of being pushed out the exit door. The likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Sebastian Squillaci, Lukasz Fabianski, Park Chu-Young, Tomas Rosicky, Abou Diaby, Denilson, Andrei Arshavin, Andre Santos, Johan Djourou, Emmanuel Frimpong and Maraoune Chamakh could all be sent on their way at the end of the season.
England captain Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on Jack Wilshere after training with the Arsenal youngster this week on England duty. He believes the 21-year-old is a ‘one-off’ talent and is destined for greatness. The friendly against Brazil will be the first time that the two have played together for England.
