Reports are still suggesting that Zenit St Petersburg will launch a massive bid to re-sign central defender Martin Skrtel from Liverpool. Zenit are reportedly preparing a bid worth at least £15 million which will force Liverpool’s hand but nothing official has come out of Anfield.

Pepe Reina has played down speculation linking himself with a move to Barcelona this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper says he will see out his contract which runs until the summer of 2014 despite suggestions from his father that he could move back to Spain, replacing Victor Valdes.

Daniel Sturridge says he is hoping to be fit for the Premier League match against West Brom on Monday. Sturridge picked up a thigh problem in the weekend draw away at Manchester City and admits it’s touch and go whether he’ll be fit enough to take his place in the side.

Liverpool have said they have not been officially contacted by Europol in relation to revelations about match fixing. The Champions League match against Debrecen in 2009 is one of over 650 matches which Europol claims was fixed but the club have not officially commented on the matter.

Hungarian club Debrecen say the revelation that a Champions League match against Liverpool was fixed is old news. Goalkeeper Vukasin Poleksic was banned for two years following the match and the club have reiterated that the matter has been dealt with.

The loan transfer window could provide an opportunity for several Liverpool youngsters to go and gain first team experience. There are hints emerging that Liverpool could send some of the club’s best youths out to football league sides where they would be first choice selections.

Daniel Sturridge is adamant that Liverpool will secure Champions League football for next season. The striker has been part of the Liverpool side which has been producing superb away performances against some of the biggest sides in England with recent draws at Arsenal and Manchester City.

Jonjo Shelvey has revealed that personal problems are the reason he hasn’t been featuring in the Liverpool side recently. Shelvey was apparently told to take a short break following a poor performance against Stoke City but he says he’s determined to bounce back with a bang.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge says Jordan Henderson deserves massive praise for resurrecting his Liverpool career. Henderson seemed on the verge of a move away at the start of the season but he has transformed himself to force a way into Brendan Rodgers’ first team plans.
