Gianfranco Zola says he is confident of securing a permanent transfer for key striker Matej Vydra by the end of the week. The forward is currently on loan from Italian giants Udinese and his prolific strike rate at the Championship club has forced the manager into sorting out a long term deal.

Wes Thomas has revealed that he wants to make his loan switch to Birmingham City permanent. The striker signed on loan from League One side Bournemouth until the end of the season. He has targeted a high ratio of goals as the way to win himself a contract at the cash troubled club.

Barnsley striker Jason Scotland has revealed he wants to sign a long term contract at the club. Scotland signed for Barnsley last month after he was released by Ipswich Town. He signed on an initial deal to the end of the season but has invited the club to offer him a longer contract.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones will dip into the loan market to find any players he needs. The Wednesday boss has branded the January transfer window as madness and Jones says the club will not rush as they try to secure one or two players on loan.

Iain Dowie is the new favourite to take on the managerial role at Oldham Athletic. He has jumped above previous favourite, Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes who was being tipped to take over the club he supports full time from the end of the season.

Robbie Brady says he had to force through his move from Manchester United to Hull City. Brady signed for the Championship side permanently in order to give himself the best chance of prolonging his international career and playing regularly for the Republic of Ireland.

Ipswich Town assistant manager Terry Connor has revealed that he can’t wait to start working with new signing Paul Taylor. Taylor actually signed for the club last summer but has been plagued with an ankle problem which has restricted him to only three appearances this season.
