Eder of FC Braga is a cheaper alternative for Spurs after they missed out on Leandro Damiao.
It's clear that despite their deadline day miss on Leandro Damiao, Tottenham are well short in the striking department as emphasised by Jermain Defoe's weekend injury, and are already rumoured to be looking at potential targets for a few month's time.
One such player as Eder of FC Braga, a player who has also been courted by Norwich City and Swansea City.
Spurs are naturally a higher profile club than either of those two teams and more likely to offer Eder a chance to continue his love affair with the Champions League.
His valuation according to the papers is around the £8 million mark despite a much larger transfer fee clause in his current contract.
He’s a good option for Spurs for several different reasons with the most obvious being his height and power which he displayed well in the Champions League group games against Manchester United.
He’s also an investment for AVB at 25-years-old and a player who can fit into the philosophy that the Portuguese coach is trying to brand on the North London side.
He’s also got a one hundred per cent strike rate with a goal per game in the Portuguese league which is as good a ratio as Spurs could go after in any current player across Europe.
He has different strings to his bow which is also important for Spurs because they are not spoilt for choice in terms of the attacking options they have at the club.
Predominantly Spurs are a side that like to pass, press and pile on the pressure but in Emmanuel Adebayor and Eder, they would have two players perfectly suited to the greater physical challenges of playing English football.
It also gives them greater versatility if they do manage to finish in fourth place in the league after the current season.
Whether it happens or not remains to be seen because Swansea could step up their efforts to sign him, as Michu is being tipped for a move away from the Liberty Stadium.
He’s a good, solid alternative and if Spurs continue to send their scouts to watch him, it could be one to watch this summer.
Is Eder a good alternative to Damiao?
