Five new signings who could make an instant impact this weekend

New players at Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, QPR, Aston Villa and Fulham feature on the list, with their clubs hoping their investment will pay off straight away.

Get ready to watch these new boys in action...

Nacho Monreal

Arsenal fans will be desperately hoping that their new left back is put into the side for their clash with Stoke at the Emirates, with the likely alternative being Andre Santos extending his frequently calamitous season. Monreal has all the attributes to be a superb left back for the Gunners, and his presence should help the whole defence settle down and stop making the errors that were on display once again against Liverpool.

Chris Samba

There is some doubt if Samba will be fit enough to play against Norwich at the weekend, but with Ryan Nelsen having departed for Canada, the temptation will be to thrust the £12.5 million signing into the fray straight away. On paper, Samba is one of the best signings QPR could have made and whatever the finances involved, his towering presence could be vital to their chances of staying up. Samba also adds a goal threat from set pieces, with QPR keen to turn their recent solid defensive displays into more regular wins.

Lewis Holtby

Tottenham Hotspurs fans were delighted with the impact the German midfielder made in his 20 minute stint against Norwich on Wednesday night, and they will be hoping that Holtby is given a chance to impress from the start against West Brom. Holtby's creativity and mobility in the final third will be essential to Spurs' attacking threat in the second half of the season, and Andre Villas-Boas will be hoping that begins away at West Brom on Sunday.

Urby Emanuelson

Fulham's acquisition of the Dutch player on loan from AC Milan for the rest of the season looks like an excellent piece of business, and they might look to put Emanuelson in at the deep end against Manchester United this weekend. The 26 year old is a very adaptable player, and his mobility and skill on the ball should be a real boost to Fulham in the second half of the season.

Yacouba Sylla

The 22 year old defensive midfielder could make his way straight into Paul Lambert's beleaguered starting eleven as Aston Villa look to add some much needed steel to the midfield ahead of their trip to Everton. Villa have been in free-fall in recent weeks, and with only Sylla and Dawkins added to the squad this January, much will be expected from the young midfielder as they try and arrest their slide towards relegation.
