Liverpool latest: Including Manchester City team news and Carroll gone for good?

West Ham co-owner David Gold has claimed Liverpool and the Hammers have reached an agreement which would see Andy Carroll sign at Upton Park permanently in the summer. The £35 million pound man has one goal from nine starts and is yet to feature in 2013, but is ready to return imminently. Gold makes no announcement of any fee - and also adds Carroll is yet to agree personal terms or declare his intention to sign for the West Ham permanently.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has been charged with assaulting a woman. Sterling is alleged to have committed the assault last November and has pledged not guilty to the accusation. The case has been adjourned to the end of February, he was not present for the formal charge.

Liverpool left back Jose Enrique could be included from the start against Manchester City this weekend. Enrique came off the bench in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal and Brendan Rodgers may use him on the left side of midfield to provide extra protection to the Liverpool back four.

Brendan Rodgers has a big decision over whether to include Philippe Coutinho in the Liverpool squad to play Manchester City. Coutinho completed his transfer from Inter Milan earlier this week but Rodgers has said he may not be fit enough to feature in the squad this weekend.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen says the club can beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend. Allen admits that Liverpool are going into matches as underdogs but insists that recent away performances mean the side has a great deal of confidence ahead of the match.

The bookies are not giving Liverpool a hope of getting a result against Manchester City this weekend. Several high profile bookmakers make Liverpool the underdogs which won’t bother Brendan Rodgers or his team one bit as they have been in a similar position throughout the season.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas says Philippe Coutinho can have a massive effect on the club over the rest of the season. Lucas will be instrumental in helping his fellow Brazilian settle in at Anfield and he has described Coutinho as a ‘proper Brazilian’ due to his skill and ability.

Luis Suarez has been applauded for his loyalty to Liverpool. Suarez committed himself to Liverpool earlier this week amidst speculation that Bayern Munich would try to sign him for £40 million this summer. It’s a gesture which has got a much criticised player, a lot of praise.

Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni has paid tribute to Liverpool and thanked everyone for his time at the club. Doni moved back to Brazil where he is likely to get more regular first team football and he says he will miss the special atmosphere which Liverpool fans create.

Dani Pacheco did not come good on his claim to break into the Liverpool first team as he was sent on loan to SD Huesca on transfer deadline day. Pacheco featured for the club at the start of the season when Liverpool were limited by attacking options and Pacheco said his aim for the season was to gain a regular first team place.
