Here are five deals which could happen after the end of the season.
Gary Hooper – Celtic to Norwich City/Other Clubs
Gary Hooper was the subject of several bids from Norwich City yesterday but each one was rejected and the move never happened. This doesn’t automatically mean he’s going to leave for Norwich this summer and plenty of other clubs could come into the equation, which is exactly what Celtic want because it could trigger a bidding war.
Victor Wanyama – Celtic to Manchester United
Another player who was tipped to make a last minute move to Manchester United. Considering the calibre of the other midfielders United have been linked to, there’s now a good chance that Wanyama will move on to another side this summer. United could still make a bid to take him to Old Trafford but it’s finely balanced.
Marouane Fellaini – Everton to Manchester United/Chelsea
If Everton don’t secure Champions League football for next season then Marouane Fellaini has already suggested he’ll be on his way. He confirmed yesterday that he wasn’t jumping ship halfway through the season which gives the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea a chance to work out if they want to spend £20 million on him in July.
David Villa – Barcelona to Arsenal/Liverpool
Villa did not move on Deadline Day but he could well be forced out of Barcelona at the end of the season as he’s unlikely to figure next year. Arsenal were strongly touted to complete a Deadline Day deal for the Spanish striker but Liverpool now have a chance to form a strong bid. Another possible destination could be Bayern Munich which would allow Villa to link up with former boss Pep Guardiola.
Kevin Strootman to Manchester United/Liverpool
PSV Eindhoven managed to keep hold of their captain yesterday with very little doing the rounds on the rumour mills. However, Strootman has been heavily tipped with a move to Old Trafford which now looks set up for the summer transfer window. Again, it comes down to the preference of Sir Alex Ferguson and how strongly United want the player as there could be strong competition from Liverpool.
