Transfer Window: Five deadline day deals for the final hour

Tottenham, Reading, Fulham, Stoke City, Swansea, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Arsenal and QPR could all be busy right up to the 11pm deadline.

As transfer deadline day looms there are of course several eventualities that are a certainty. There will be one more big name signing, Jim White of Sky Sports News will shout at inappropriate times, Bryan Swanson will be on his handy mobile phone while Harry Redknapp will certainly be hanging out of his car window at some point talking about a lad who is ‘special’.

Another definite is the last-hour panic. Even though every manager says they won’t be doing it you are always guaranteed one or two last minute buys usually involving a player out of favour at his current club; Yossi Benayoun is a favourite of this type of transfer.

Predicting who these players could be is a harder task then predicting the results of the weekend fixtures; and I should know I have been making a mess of that all season.

But who could make a late exit as the clock edges ever closer to 11pm?

Wilson Palacios to QPR

The Stoke City midfielder has slipped into obscurity at The Britannia which is incredible when you consider his talent. Rumours of a move to QPR were always going to do the rounds considering his previous with Harry Redknapp and it would not be a surprise if he did end up at Loftus Road; if even just on loan.

Tom Huddlestone to Fulham

Now that Spurs have tied down a deal for Lewis Holtby before the summer there is certainly scope for one of their midfield men to be sent on his way. He has been strongly linked with a move to Fulham and Spurs may want to raise funds/clear the wage bill for a last minute plunge for Leandro Damiao. This one could go to the wire.

Florent Malouda to anywhere

Earlier in the month it was reported that absolutely nobody wanted to pick up the Champions League winning, 80-caps for France and only 32-years-old winger which is quite frankly hilarious. Almost hilarious as the notion that Malouda has not even met Rafa Benitez yet! His contract is up in the summer and keeping him would just be an expensive punishment for Chelsea and surely somebody in the Premier League would want him?

Andrey Arshavin to Reading

This idea of a move to Reading has simmered down in recent weeks after Brian McDermott said it wouldn’t happen but how many times have you heard that in the past only for a late bid to be lodged. His wage demands seem to be the problem for every interested Premier League party but I would not be surprised to see him leave on loan before we say goodbye to January.

Kenwyne Jones to Swansea

Aston Villa are also reportedly in the race for the Stoke striker who despite the apparent interest in Peter Crouch from QPR could move on considering Jamie Mackie’s involvement as bait in that deal. It relies heavily on the potential movement of Danny Graham and could be one of the developing storylines as the clock rolls into its final hour.

Who do you think could make a last ditch move?
