Swansea gearing up for a pivotal month

Swansea Fans

February could turn out to be the biggest month of Swansea’s season for several reasons.

February is shaping up to be the biggest month for Swansea City in recent memory with a great chance for the club to pick up a piece of silverware in the League Cup final against Bradford City.

There will be some Swansea fans that still can’t believe the leaps and bounds the club has made over the last few seasons and they will go into the final at the end of the month as the overwhelming favourites.

It’s also a big month for Swansea in the league as they now look as though they are going to be in the mix for a European place by the end of the season.

They open up with a difficult away match against West Ham United and they should be confident as they have taken points in eight away games so far in the current league campaign.

They also have to go away to Anfield in the league with a big test likely to be provided by Liverpool.

However, if Swansea have real aspirations of getting into Europe then this is the sort of game they need to be winning and it will give them confidence heading into the League Cup final and into their league games throughout March.

Swansea play at home just once in February with a league match against Queens Park Rangers.

It’s anyone’s guess as to the sort of team that turns up from QPR with Harry Redknapp likely to put out a team just as capable of putting on a display as they are falling away and providing an easy match for the Welsh club.

They have lost the same ratio of games home and away as Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place so the only thing keeping them from securing one of those European slots is the number of draws the team is accumulating.

If Swansea can win all of their matches in February, with maybe a draw away at Liverpool thrown into the equation, then that can be considered the perfect month.

A lot of Swansea fans may even suggest that they would rather take a League Cup win and defeats in all of their league games next month but that will not help their development.

Swansea are now much bigger than a club that has a random chance at winning a domestic trophy. They look like an established Premier League team so the next stage of progression for them is Europe.
