Liverpool latest: Including deadline day deals and Manchester City build-up

All of the latest Liverpool news in one place.

Luis Suarez has dismissed speculation over his future, insisting that he wants to stay at Liverpool for a prolonged period. Several media reports were starting to surface which suggested Suarez would be the subject of a £40 million bid from Bayern Munich this summer.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas insists the side should be confident heading into the Premier League clash with Manchester City this weekend. Liverpool secured a 2-2 draw away at Arsenal which Lucas says proves they can take on the big times and get results at hostile grounds.

Liverpool central defender Jamie Carragher says Liverpool’s season is over if they don’t beat Manchester City this weekend. Liverpool are on the fringes of the European places and still only have an outside shot of a Champions League place which would be substantially aided by a win at the Etihad.

Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his pride at the way his young Liverpool team reacted to defeat at Oldham against Arsenal. Liverpool secured a point at the Emirates just a few days after they were humiliated in the FA Cup by the League One side. Rodgers has said he couldn’t be more proud of the side.

Liverpool winger and striker Dani Pacheco has joined Huesca on loan until the end of the season. It’s thought that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wanted to push through the deal which allows the 22-year-old attacking player to get more first team experience.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alexander Doni has been allowed to return to Brazil where he joins Botafogo on a free transfer. Doni was not getting any first team football at Anfield which prompted the club to try and push through a deal quickly before the close of the January transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has ruled out a last minute deadline day move for Tom Ince. Rodgers claims the deal is too complicated due to the demands Ince’s current side Blackpool are making. It looks as though he’ll remain at the Championship club until at least the summer.

Lazio defender Modibo Diakite says Liverpool is his preferred move if he’s going to come to the Premier League. A deal today looks unlikely as Brendan Rodgers has implied Liverpool won’t do any more deals but Diakite could be on the club’s radar this summer.

Liverpool youngsters Raheem Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey have both been included in the England squad to play Brazil next week. They join Glen Johnson and Steven Gerrard in representing Liverpool for one of England’s toughest friendly matches in recent memory.
