Football League Transfer Talk: Including Becchio and Butland

Leeds United, Birmingham City, Peterborough United and Wolves all feature.

Leeds United and Norwich City are locked in talks over a deal which would see Luciano Becchio plus cash exchanged for Norwich striker Steve Morison. Becchio has been linked with a move away from Elland Road throughout January and it looks as though a deal could happen at the last moment.

Stoke City have become the latest Premier League to make an approach for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland. Butland is still available after he turned down the chance to talk to Chelsea and he could reject Stoke along similar lines of not being guaranteed first team football.

Peterborough United have revealed that they have accepted several bids for key striker George Boyd. Crystal Palace were thought to have agreed a deal yesterday but the Posh have said it’s up to the player to agree personal terms with the club of his choice before making the move.

Fiorentina have criticised Bolton Wanderers for making it as difficult as possible for them to sign Marcos Alonso. The left back has been linked with a move to Italy but it’s touch and go as to whether the deal will happen with Bolton wanting the Italian side to give into all of their demands.

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Anthony Wordsworth from Colchester United. The player had been training with Ipswich ahead of a possible move and the clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee. He scored 35 goals in 200 games for Colchester.

Hull City have had a formal approach for Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake rejected. Hull boss Steve Bruce has admitted he is looking to add a striker to his squad by the end of the season but Wolves have refused an approach from Hull, meaning they will have to look elsewhere.

Wolves boss Dean Saunders says he is having to fend off interest from several Premier League clubs for his best players. Transfer deadline day means many clubs are often bombarded with enquiries relating to their best players and Saunders has admitted that all of his players have their price.
