Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including striker update and Norwich team news

Leandro Damiao V S Korea

News, views, and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur over the past 24 hours.

Talk is growing that Tottenham want to try again for Leandro Damiao, but a move remains complex. The Standard claims Andre Villas-Boas has asked Daniel Levy to go back in for the Brazilian, with the Star reporting a £20 million offer is to be made. AVB declared his admiration for the striker earlier in the window. However as South American football expert Tim Vickery detailed earlier in the transfer window, the path to sign the striker is tricky, made so by third party ownership. With little over 48 hours remaining of the window, Spurs may find themselves missing out as they did on Joao Moutinho in August.

Rumours persist over Alvaro Negredo being a late target, and he appears more attainable, but Sevilla will try to hold out, and there is little substantial to boost the same speculation which existed over the Spaniard yesterday.

One player who has arrived in Lewis Holtby, who has given his first interview with the club via the the Spurs website. He said: "Ever since I decided to join Spurs in the summer, I had the feeling that I wanted to come here straight away." You can read the interview in full here.

He will wear the squad number 23, and will be available for selection for tomorrow night's away fixture with Norwich.

The trip to Carrow Road will not be one Spurs are taking lightly, even after the Canaries lost to non-league Luton in the FA Cup at the weekend, as Chris Hughton's side will be looking to put in a response. However Norwich have only won one of their last eight games in all competitions. Spurs are too looking to bounce back from a cup exit away to Leeds, and know all about Carrow Road - As it was the scene of their Capital One Cup exit earlier in the season, with Clint Dempsey missing a late penalty.

Jermain Defoe is fit and available for selection - as confirmed by Sky Sports - despite injury worries which caused him to miss the Leeds fixture. William Gallas is also available for consideration after a calf problem. Spurs are likely to come up against former defender Sebastien Bassong, who has recovered from him own injury worry to face the team which sold him back in August.

And finally, Sir Alex Ferguson has been charged by the FA for his comments about a linesman after Manchester United's recent draw at White Hart Lane. He has until February 1st at 4pm to respond.
