Three signings Manchester United could still make this transfer window

Manchester United Old Trafford

Manchester United are not notorious January spenders, but don't entirely rule out a late arrival.

Manchester United and particularly Sir Alex Ferguson are well known not to be fans of spending in January, but could a late arrival be incoming?

They have already secured the signing of Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, although he will not link up with the Red Devils until July.

However there appears to be all kinds of activity ongoing behind the scenes at Old Trafford at present which could result in a late addition.

Here are three players who could still sign on before tomorrow's deadline...

Jeffrey Schlupp

Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp has been on trial at United since last week, and it was confirmed yesterday that the Ghanaian would extend his time training with the club until the end of the month. Leicester boss Nigel Pearson said: "I have spoken to him a few times and Jeff is enjoying himself there, things are going well. I think it's great experience for the lad."

Schlupp is just 20, and can play as a striker, on the left-wing, and even at left-back. It is encouraging that Sir Alex Ferguson has elected to extend his trial period, and United may just decide to make a transfer offer before the window closes, even if it like Zaha involved Schlupp heading back to the Championship until the end of the season and joining up permanently in the summer, to allow him to gain more experience before joining up.

Victor Wanyama

ESPN are reporting that United are preparing to make a late £8 million bid for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama. The Kenyan has been a real driving force at the Glasgow club this season, impressing particularly in the Champions League. United want to leap ahead of the competition in the race for the coveted star's signature by acting now.

However Celtic are reluctant to sell the midfielder now as they have important Champions League business to attend to in February, where they face Juventus in the knockout stage. Wanyama has been a crucial part of that and losing him now would be a big blow. So expect United to make Celtic an offer similar to they did with Zaha - Appreciating Celtic's priorities, and allowing him to again, join up in July, but if they could secure a price and seal the deal now, it will have been worth acting early.

Jurgen Damm

Mexican winger Jurgen Damm is another youngster like Schlupp who has been training at United over the past week. He plays for Estudiantes Tecos in his homeland, is 20-years-old, and has German citizenship, negating any work permit complications. The right-footed winger was recommended by the agent of compatriot Javier Hernandez, and his club have just a £2 million asking price.

United ideally want to pay slightly less, but may have to meet the club's demands if they are extra keen to snap him up, or risk losing a player who while  was previously a hidden gem, will now have dozens of clubs tracking him as a result of their interest - which could only hike up his asking price for the summer.

Will any of these three be late additions?
