New 16-second trailer hits at big upcoming announcement.
Sony has released a cryptic video simply entitled “Game Day 2013”, featuring 16 seconds of non-committal imagery.
Displaying the date February 1st, 2013, the video is of a woman walking through a picturesque countryside while ash snows down around her, before suddenly coming to an end with a close-up of an opening eye.
There is something very Pompeii-like about the video, which could be alluding to the next title in the God of War franchise.
Take a look:
Rumour circulates that the trailer could be teasing the upcoming release of God of War: Ascension, a PS3 prequel to the famed God of War series that will show the origins of god-killer Kratos.
“Vengeance is born in the fires of betrayal,” the company grimly explains, saying the title begins six months after Kratos’ wife and child were murdered by his own hand.
“Sentenced to an eternity chained within a prison for the living damned, Kratos battles insanity at the hands of the Furies. He will be tested as he seeks freedom, redemption for his sins, and the clarity to avenge his family.”
However the video is not clear on this and the title, "Game Day 2013", suggests something a bit broader.
