Arsenal latest: Including Beckham and Alderweireld

All the news and gossip from The Emirates over the past 24 hours.

Arsenal Football Club have announced a freeze on ticket prices for the 2013-14 season. The Move will apply to all match and season tickets and comes after a storm over the current cost to watch a game at The Emirates. Earlier in the month Manchester City returned 912 unsold tickets for their game with Arsenal and expressed incredulity at the £62 asking price. The move has been welcomed by the Arsenal Supporters Trust but they still feel that away ticket costs should be reduced.

Arsene Wenger today confirmed that David Beckham is training with the club; but insisted there was no potential deal with the club in the pipeline. The former Manchester United player is currently without a club after deciding to leave MLS side LA Galaxy. He reportedly asked Wenger whether he could train with the club in order to improve his fitness while he mulls over a potential move to one of many clubs who have made an offer for his services.

Arsene Wenger has announced his disappointment in the measures being proposed by MP’s for reform in the finances of the British game. While he feels that there are indeed issues which need to be raised as to the financial longevity of the game he does not feel that politics should ‘rule football’. The government cannot actually become overly involved in football in England as FIFA have strict rules on the subject and could even expel England from the organisation.

Sam Allardyce has spoken today of the ‘total confusion’ surrounding the future of Senegalese midfielder Momo Diame. The West Ham boss is reluctant to lose one of his star players but the former Wigan man has a £3.5 million release clause written into his contract and despite insisting he was ‘happy’ at the club last week a move to Arsenal may still be on the cards.

Arsenal appear to have missed out in any attempt to sign David Villa from Barcelona. The Spanish striker was earmarked as a potential signing back in December but Wenger has now stated that his club have made it very clear that they are not open to his sale at this moment in time; despite him struggling to hold down a regular place in the side.

Arsenal are being linked with a £9 million move for Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld. He would join fellow Belgian and ex-Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen at the club and if the Dutch side manage to persuade Everton to part with Jonny Heitinga this deal could be a goer.
