Will lightning strike twice for Redknapp?

Belhanda Morocco

The Daily Mail has linked QPR with a high profile transfer, which could be one of Harry Redknapp’s best coups if it comes off.

Younes Belhanda is a name that some QPR fans won’t have heard of and a name that some QPR fans have only dreamt of.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but the Daily Mail is suggesting, Harry Redknapp will try and pull off a deal at the very last minute of the January transfer window.

If he does then it will be a fantastic signing for QPR and one which will benefit the club in many ways. However, what you need to weigh up against this is Redknapp’s reputation in transfer windows and the fact this could have been plucked out of thin air.

Belhanda is an extremely efficient attacking player who could play in many different positions along the QPR attack.

His pace, control and skill with the ball at his feet would offer QPR a cutting edge which they don’t have at the moment and one which could go a long way to keeping the club up.

Those who doubt the possible move only have to look at the recent signing of Loic Remy to realise that Redknapp has the negotiation skills to pull this off.

Remy, after all, had agreed to join Newcastle United before Redknapp and QPR engineered themselves into a position where they could effectively offer the player a better deal and there’s no reason lightning can’t strike twice.

The sticking point here is Belhanda’s recent experience in the Champions League with Montpellier, an experience which he is likely to have enjoyed.

Needless to say QPR are nowhere near close to a Champions League spot which makes a move to a bigger club with guaranteed European football much more likely.

If it’s a money thing then QPR don’t seem to have any problem throwing their weight around and Redknapp would encourage Belhanda to use the club as a stepping stone for a bigger move, which he has done with other players in the past.

You’ve also got to factor in the calibre of other clubs around Europe trying to sign him with Fenerbahce and Inter Milan also linked with moves for him according to different online media sources.

Could this be the rumour mill going mad or is Redknapp about to pull off another bit of fantastic business? It really wouldn’t be a surprise to many if he rolled down his car window and confirmed the clubs were in talks with him.

Any chance of this happening or is it a far fetched dream?
