Five Infamous Player, Fan and Ball Boy Incidents

After Eden Hazard got sent off for kicking a ball boy, we’ve put together a list of five infamous incidents involving players and the crowd…. Or a ball boy.

1) Cantona’s Karate Kick

Eric Cantona karate kicked a Crystal Palace fan after he was sent off in a match against the London based club in 1995. The Frenchman claimed the fan was hurling racial insults at him.

2) Hazard and the Ball boy

Eden Hazard appeared to volley a young ball boy in the ribs during Chelsea’s League Cup semi-final second leg against Swansea City. He was shown a straight red card but replays later suggested Hazard had kicked the ball.

3) Carragher’s Coin

Jamie Carragher was sent off during a match between Liverpool and Arsenal for throwing a coin at Arsenal fans. Carragher took objection to being targeted and retaliated by giving as good as he was getting.

4) Beckham’s Confrontation

David Beckham confronted a section of LA Galaxy fans in 2009 who were verbally abusing him as he returned from a loan spell at AC Milan. The fans seemed to object at Beckham going on loan to Milan in the first place and targeted members of his family with their abuse.

5) Adebayor’s Celebration

Then Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor got himself into trouble following a goal celebration. When he scored against Arsenal in Manchester, Adebayor ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of Arsenal fans. He was hit with two FA charges.
