Olivier Giroud bagged two against the Hammers in midweek to take his tally for the season to 11. Not exactly a 'flop' now is he?
In one quick second half blitz, Olivier Giroud breezed into double figures for the season, and now has 11 goals to his name for the Gunners.
It may have taken him six games to get off the mark, and he was foolishly written off by many after a nervous start, but he is looking sharp.
Of course he isn't the finished article yet, he missed a good chance early on against Chelsea which would have given Arsenal an early lead and changed the game, and on such fine lines encounters are won and lost, but he is showing positive signs.
It shouldn't be forgotten this is his first season playing in England, and he has been adjusting, so he is only going to get better surely.
That is why it is so important that he can try and get to 20 goals between now and the end of the season; it is a superb milestone to achieve and will boost his confidence immeasurably, knocking any doubters that are left firmly back into the shadows.
He has two goals in the Capital One Cup, one in the Champions League, and now eight in the Premier League all to his name, making it 11 in 31 games.
He has nine assists, meaning he has contributed 20 goals this season, but perhaps he needs to develop more of a selfish streak in order to get his own numbers up?
Giroud will want to play a strong role in Arsenal's assault on the FA Cup, continuing at Brighton this weekend, and scoring goals against Bayern Munich in the Champions League will really make him a hero.
He has 15 league games left, and a minimum of three cup games, to score the nine goals he needs to reach 20. That would mean scoring at a rate of around one in two, more frequently than the one in three he is nearing at the moment.
With a bit of luck Arsenal will progress in the FA Cup and Champions League and he will have more games to reach his target.
A couple of seasons back Javier Hernandez scored 20 goals for Manchester United in his debut campaign and was hailed as the signing of the season.
If Giroud can get the same total or better it, any accolades which come his way will be well-deserved.
Do you think Giroud can get to 20?
