New title by Heavy Rain developer rumoured to be called Singularity.
While the console makers are keeping tight lipped around their next generation of devices, Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream may have made its intentions clear by registering the domain SigularityPS4.com.
According to a report by Kotaku, this could be flagging the direction the company is going in as part of its two-title deal with Sony.
Adding credibility to the speculations, this move is in keeping with the French developer’s past efforts, having previously registered domains such as heavyrainps3.com and beyondps3.com.
The company is already at work on another PlayStation 3 title, Beyond: Two Souls, which will benefit from a main character voiced by actress Ellen Page, known for her roles in Inception and Juno.
Recently, the company’s enigmatic director, David Cage, told OPM why he believed the industry was swamped with constant sequels.
“Gamers invest money in publishers having no interest in innovation,” he argued, adding: “[Gamers] encourage [publishers] to keep making the same game every Christmas, and everybody’s happy.
That’s why Quantic Dream avoids sequels and produces titles that are more emotive than standard shooters, he claimed.
“We don’t give people what they expect. We want to give them something they want without knowing they want it,” Cage concluded.
