Liverpool remain hopeful of signing Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan despite widespread reports a deal is off. Liverpool are reported to be willing to pay around £8 million for the Inter star who has said he is happy at the club and isn’t looking to move away.

The Metro has reported that Southampton are trying to hijack a move for Philippe Coutinho. Liverpool are thought to be trying to sign the player but the Metro and other papers, have suggested that new Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino is trying to force through a deal.

Liverpool are yet to make an official bid for Birmingham City goalkeeper Jack Butland. Butland has been linked with a £5 million move to Anfield but ibtimes.co.uk has suggested that the club are yet to make any formal approach to the Championship side, currently struggling financially.

The Metro has reported that Pepe Reina’s agent will discuss a possible move to Barcelona with Liverpool. It is thought the talks will be asked for so Reina’s agent can clarify his future at Anfield before deciding whether a move to Barcelona is worth pursuing.

Liverpool could be one of the clubs linked with signing Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin on loan. The German is being linked with a number of different clubs ahead of a possible loan deal for the rest of the season with Liverpool apparently keen to increase their midfield options.

Jordan Henderson has praised strikers Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez for hitting it off after Sturridge’s arrival from Chelsea. There were fears that Sturridge playing through the middle would jeopardise Suarez’s good form but both players have scored in recent league matches.

Suso has vowed to work even harder than he already has done this season to force his way back into the Liverpool first team. Suso is set for a start in the FA Cup match against Oldham this weekend and the Spaniard says he is looking forward to competing for his place in the side.

Former Liverpool winger Jimmy Payne has passed away at the age of 86-years-old. He played 243 games for Liverpool, scoring 43 goals in the process. His daughter has thanked Liverpool fans for their support throughout the final days of her father’s life.
