Football League Transfer Talk: Including King and Scotland

Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers, Ipswich Town and Barnsley all feature.

Alan Tate has terminated his own loan agreement at Leeds United and returned to parent club Swansea City. Tate is expected to feature for Swansea in up and coming games as a cover player for higher profile defenders in the side but he could still seek a move elsewhere this January.

Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a move for Marlon King after Birmingham told the striker to find a new club. King is thought to be on one of the larger contracts at Birmingham which has prompted them to try and force him out to ease their current financial crisis.

Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Birmingham City winger Chris Burke. Forest boss Alex McLeish recently said he wanted four new players as a minimum at the club before the end of the month. He said the demands have to be met if the club wants any chance of going up this season.

Ipswich Town have released striker Jason Scotland via mutual consent. It means the 33-year-old front man is free to find himself a club with that side not having to pay a penny for his services. Scotland has struggled to feature in the club’s plans so far this season.

Birmingham City have clarified the future of Paul Robinson by offering the defender a new contract. Robinson was being linked with a move away from St Andrews in a bid to ease the budget at the struggling Midlands club. They are expected to retain him for the rest of the season.

Championship strugglers Barnsley have offered a trial to former Reading striker Mathieu Manset. The club’s manager David Flitcroft has revealed that he has been training with the side but they have not made a decision over signing him as he still looks rusty.

Sheffield Wednesday have sent midfielder Chris Lines on loan to the MK Dons for the rest of the season. Lines was not featuring in the club’s first team plans despite the fact they have struggled to stay out of the relegation places in the Championship throughout the season.
