A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.
Chelsea are likely to again be without David Luiz as they seek to overturn their 2-0 Capital One Cup deficit when they play Swansea tomorrow night. The defender missed the win over Arsenal at the weekend. Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel are away on international duty.
Swansea have been boosted by the news that Chico will be fit for the match. Kemy Agustien and Neil Taylor are both out for Michael Laudrup’s side. Michael Laudrup has urged his side to go on the offensive and not just try and sit on their 2-0 lead in the match, and warned that Chelsea are perhaps the best side at playing away in the league.
Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi has attacked Rafa Benitez in an interview, saying that he would never entrust Benitez with a team if he was a club owner, and comparing him unfavourably to Jose Mourinho:
"What I did not like about him was the way he presented himself to the team. Great coaches like Lippi and Mourinho use unwritten rules, but Benitez wanted to write 10 to 12 things down,”
Benitez wasted no time in hitting back at Materazzi, branding him a liar in his pre-match interview.
"Marco Materazzi's lying. He's lying. Just lying. Everything he said is a lie.”
Rumours of Marko Marin leaving Chelsea on loan have continued today, and here on HITC we look at where might be the best place for Marin to spend the second half of the season.
Radamel Falcao has denied meeting with Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez to discuss a summer move. The striker, who could end up being one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer, said that there had been plenty of incorrect reports about him lately.
“Lately there has been all kinds of reports about me.
"All those that say I ate with Florentino are false. Neither is it true that I travelled with Cristiano Ronaldo to the Ballon d'Or gala."
Here on HITC today, Mathew Nash speculates whether Thibaut Courtois could be used to make up a deal for Falcao. The goalkeeper has excelled whilst on loan at Atletico over the past two years.
Ashley Cole has confirmed he has signed a one year extension to his contract at Stamford Bridge. The left back’s current deal was due to expire in the summer, but he now hopes to go on and win more trophies with Chelsea.
