Five players who should leave Arsenal this January

Either on loan or on permanent deals which quintet should be sent packing by Arsenal in the current transfer window

January has been predictably quiet for Arsenal once again this year as they focused much of their attention on contract negotiations with Theo Walcott. Now that is sorted the time has come for Arsenal to get their house in order and bring in some new talent.

So who may have to make way at The Emirates?

Emmanuel Frimpong

I think the time has come, as popular a character the creator of Dench is, to realise that he is not cut out to play at the level required for Arsenal. He has suffered severely with serious knee problems over the past 18 months which have obviously not helped his development but apart from that he simply just doesn’t seem good enough for Arsenal. It really is as easy as that, and he could forge out a great career lower down the Premier League table.

Aaron Ramsey

It has been a bad season for Ramsey. He lost the Wales captaincy to Ashley Williams earlier in the campaign and has become one of the scapegoats for Arsenal’s choppy form in 2012-13. He could certainly do with a little time away from North London even if it is just a loan deal. However personally I am more inclined to say that Arsenal could cash in on the talent who, like Frimpong, may just not be good enough.

Sebastian Squillaci

What is going on here? Clearly his reputation is not preceding him as Arsenal cannot seem to get shot of the French veteran for love nor money. A return to Monaco, moves to Greece and several other deals have all proven to be nothing more than transfer tittle-tattle but surely Arsenal need to remove him from their wage-bill.

Andrei Arshavin

I am adamant that Arshavin is far too good to be sitting on the bench at The Emirates and I have been a big advocate for him making a move elsewhere in the Premier League to prove his worth à la Berbatov at Fulham. It would seem while Gervinho is strutting his stuff in South Africa that Arshavin will be going nowhere and it is more likely he will move at the end of his contract in the summer.

Andre Santos

Santos talks a good move with rumours of a return to Turkey or Brazil all readily spoken about in recent weeks. While Arsenal may need to hold on to him considering their lack of depth at the left back position the sheer classification of Santos as a left back itself could be called into question. For Arsenal’s sake bringing in an actual left-back as cover for Gibbs and sending Santos packing would be good business.

Would you sell any of these players?
