Swansea players begging striker to stay in Wales

Swansea City players are pleading with Danny Graham to stay at the club.

Swansea central defender Ashley Williams has revealed that he, and various team mates, have pleaded with striker Danny Graham not to leave the club.

Graham has been linked with high profile moves to Sunderland and Norwich City but Williams has stated that the current squad are doing everything they can to get him to stay.

What this tells us is that if Graham leaves, it will be a very bitter pill for Swansea players to swallow and something that they may not be able to forgive so easily.

It will be difficult because they are effectively putting their hearts on the line, showing Graham what he means to the club and a snub in those circumstances can be difficult to take.

“We've just been saying to him two minutes ago in the changing room that we want him to stay, saying 'don't go’. We all want him to stay, he is a top player and has done well here. We definitely don't want to see him leave,” Williams told thisissouthwales.

Swansea is a club full of top class professionals and whatever decision Graham makes, they will have to accept and move on.

However, it would be a shame if the fans took his motives in the wrong way, which would make it difficult for Graham to return to the club as an opposition player and receive a positive reception.

It would especially be a bitter pill to swallow when considering the calibre of clubs that are in for him.

Sunderland have already made an offer for him but he seems to be holding out for a Newcastle move, which could mean a scrap at the wrong end of the table for Graham for the rest of the season.

Neither of these sides are in a similar position to Swansea in the respect that they are playing some of the best football that club has ever seen.

Therefore, the motives behind Graham’s decision to go to the North East will be personal and family related. This should go a long way to easing any resentment or anger that any fans feel at his departure.

Calling all Swansea fans, how will you feel if Graham leaves in light of these comments?
