Football League Transfer Talk: Including Butland and Austin

Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Burnley and Millwall all feature.

Nottingham Forest manager Alex McLeish has said the club need at least four new signings by the end of the month. The new boss has suggested this is the minimum the club needs in order to maintain a strong push for promotion by the end of the Championship season.

Burnley could have a fight on their hands to hang onto striker Charlie Austin. Celtic are reportedly circling the player as a potential replacement for Gary Hooper, who has snubbed a new contract and is expected to move to Premier League side Norwich City.

Widespread reports have suggested that Birmingham City will listen to offers for any of their best players. The Blues are going through a hard financial spell which has seen speculation surrounding the future of key players increase. Jack Butland, Nathan Redmond and Nikola Zigic have all been linked with moves away.

Cardiff City have completed the signing of Frazier Campbell from Premier League side Sunderland. Campbell was struggling to get any sort of first team action under Martin O’Neill and signs for the Welsh club on a three and a half year contract which strengthens their strike force.

Danny Shittu has ended speculation over his future, suggesting that he would love to extend his contract at Millwall. The defender was being linked with a move away, with several other Championship sides interested but he has expressed a keen desire to stay where he is.

Sheffield Wednesday have revealed they are confident of extending loan deals for Jeremy Helan from Manchester City and Mamady Sidibe from Stoke City. The club are fourth bottom of the Championship and see the pair as integral to their chances of staying in the division.

Hull City are monitoring the situation of Egyptian international striker Gedo. Hull are thought to be keen on the Al Ahly front man with reports suggesting they are trying to put together a six month loan deal. However, Gedo has also been linked with several other top flight European sides.
