Is the only way after leaving Manchester United still down?
It used to be said that the only way after leaving Manchester United was down; something Ravel Morrison - former youth team starlet currently plying his trade in the Championship with 20th placed Birmingham City is finding out.
On the other hand, Morrison's former FA Youth Cup winning teammate Paul Pogba is dispelling the theory.
Pogba spurned the chance of a contract at United to leave for Serie A this summer where he signed with Juventus. The central midfielder scored his third and fourth goals of the season in a stunning 4-0 win over Udinese this weekend.
Now Juventus have gone as far to say that they value Pogba at 30 million Euros, as report Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb.
It caps a remarkable debut season for Pogba, with his progression surely justifying his reasons for leaving United.
Whether United fans believe it was due to money, it's pretty clear the major reason behind his summer move was the lack of opportunities at Old Trafford.
Instead of bringing the Frenchman into the side last season, United elected to bring Paul Scholes out of retirement. A good short-term move perhaps, but ultimately one which failed to bring them the title.
Long-term, it would have been better to have planned to integrate Pogba into the side, but by this time last year it was already evident that Pogba was agitating for a move.
His agent Mino Raiola, who also represents Mario Balotelli, and several Serie A clients, had been touting him around and the rest is history, he departed in the summer and has been hailed as one of the best teenagers in world football at only 19.
Pogba won't be unhappy at his decision, but United fans will rue the loss of such a talented player, and wonder quite how he slipped through their grasp.
Here is one of his 'amazing' strikes from the weekend...
Is Pogba now worth as much as 30 million Euros?
