Should Arsenal go for Victor Wanyama?
We reported earlier today that Arsenal are looking at Victor Wanyama as an option in midfield, although not until the summer.
Reader and supporter James Finnell commented just why he believes the midfielder is the perfect fit...
"Wanyama has been blessed with a maturity that has allowed him to adjust to his surroundings. From adapting to Belgian football, then Scottish football, to performing very comfortably at Champions League level.
"Having lived in England for the last 20 years and following the Premiership I can honestly say that Wanyama is driven, possesses intelligence and a range of passing that will split defences.
"In addition his reading of the game and ability to make that telling tackle he reminds me of Patrick Vieira.
"Although not the finished article a move to a side like Arsenal would enhance Wanyama's abilities. His brother, McDonald Mariga, has made the step up to Serie A at Inter and I see no reason why Victor should not be a success in the Premiership.
"There's no doubt that he will leave in the next two transfer windows though I suspect he may want to see out Celtic's Champions League journey this season.
"The transfer fee will need to be significant and I cannot see Celtic selling for less that £12M, more if Wanyama excels against Juventus.
"The further Celtic go in the Champions League, the more Victor will cost any potential suitors. Wenger will pay money for quality with promise and I firmly believe Wanyama fits the bill.
"He will also be an attractive buy because Kenya never make the African Cup of Nations, which leaves many a manager thinking twice."
Are you convinced? Is Wanyama the man Arsenal need and can they afford him?
