Is Sneijder holding out for the biggest pay day?

Despite what he says, is Wesley Sneijder’s delay in finding a new club proof that he’s holding out for a final pay day? What do fans of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United think?

Wesley Sneijder is being passed around an a daily basis, linked to a new club each day with thousands of virtual air miles already clocked up but he remains an Inter Milan player.

Sneijder has spoken publicly and insisted that he doesn’t want to feel pressured over his next career choice. Could it be beyond the realms of possibility that he’s holding out for the biggest pay packet?

He’s insisted that it’s not a money issue but looking at the clubs in for him, he could get regular first team football at any; Galatasaray, Liverpool, Manchester United and there will be plenty more.

United have even already turned down the chance to sign him because of ‘over the top’ wage demands and Turkish side Galatasaray seem to have made their best offer to the Dutchman without success.

“All players on the move in this transfer window must decide what to do and where to go by the end of January. I'll do the same. I am in no hurry and I don't want to rush this decision - It's not a money matter,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy.

So what exactly is he waiting for?

Is it a case of which move is going to cause the least upheaval in terms of moving around? If that’s the case then it seems a bit stupid considering he’s already played in Holland, Spain and Italy.

Could it be an egotistical thing whereby he wants to walk straight into the first team of any club he joins and become the main man. If that’s he case then why hasn’t he gone to Galatasaray where he would undoubtedly be the biggest star at the club?

Another little thing could be him not wanting to join a side that has no chance of winning the Champions League, as he’s recently won it with Inter Milan. However, if that’s the case then why won’t he take a pay cut and go to Manchester United, clearly the best club he’s still linked with.

The only other option is that he is genuinely protecting his own interests and waiting to see if any other offers come in for him because it’s clear that Inter made their mind up a long time ago that they wanted him off of their current wage bill.

Tell us what you think! Is Sneijder simply waiting for the biggest contract offer?
