Football League Transfer Talk: Including Becchio and Robinson

Leeds United, Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Millwall all feature.

Leeds United have denied that they have had a bid from Wigan Athletic for striker Lucciano Becchio. Leeds boss Neil Warnock has admitted that he, and several others at the club, are aware of the rumours but nothing has formally happened in terms of an approach from Wigan.

Blackpool managerial target Karl Robinson has said he is willing to talk to the club. Blackpool made a formal approach to his current club, the MK Dons, to talk to Robinson about their vacant manager’s job but the League One side are yet to give him permission to talk with the Tangerines.

West Brom, West Ham and Stoke City are all tracking the progress of Middlesbrough defender George Friend. Friend has been the best defender at the Championship club so far this season which has sparked rumours of an impending exit from the club to a Premier League side.

Millwall loanee Adam Smith says he doesn’t know if he’ll have the chance to stay at Millwall. Smith is currently on loan at the club from Tottenham Hotspur but has admitted he does not know if Spurs will give him a permanent transfer to the Championship team.

Leeds United have confirmed that American winger Robbie Rodgers has left the club through mutual consent. The USA international had spent the first half of this season on loan with Stevenage and he now becomes a free agent ahead of his next permanent career move.

Scott Griffiths has sent a come and get me plea to any side as he wants to move away from Peterborough United. Griffiths is available on a free transfer having not played for the Posh at all this season. He has expressed a keen desire to play regular first team football.

Bristol City have hit a stumbling block in their bid to sign Kyle McFadzean from Crawley town. New City boss Sean O’Driscoll claims that the only thing making him wary over signing the player is his current lack of fitness as he hasn’t trained in seven weeks.
