Crystal Palace's Manchester United and Arsenal target impressed in his 45 minutes at the Britannia last night.
"Yeah he's good, but can he really do it on a wet and windy Tuesday night in Stoke?"
Wilfried Zaha would have got the nod of approval from Andy Gray last night, the former Sky pundit who cast aspersions over four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi's abilities.
In truth we likely will never know whether Messi really could get one up over Stoke as the Potters are unlikely to meet Barcelona any time soon. But we can hazard a guess that he would fare pretty well.
Zaha had his Stoke test last night, and he just played 45 minutes - and despite a booking for diving he appeared to pass it with flying colours. Palace took the game to extra-time but lost 4-1 conceding three goals in the extra 30 minutes.
Crystal Palace fans were more than impressed with his contribution, and took to Twitter to say so:
#CPFC still had Zaha on the pitch, they could well have won this in normal time.
@richcawleyslp: Anyone thinking £7m is the right and fair price for Zaha needs to see him giving Stoke the runaround tonight.
#cpfc on top at half time. Zaha unplayable.
There were strong rumours he will join Manchester United even today, although reports Sir Alex Ferguson was in the crowd at the Britannia last night are unconfirmed.
Zaha famously said back in November the only players he looked up to were Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, words he said had been slightly taken out of context.
After last night, in Andy Gray's book, Zaha is head and shoulders above the little Argentine.
Was last night proof Zaha will cut it in the Premier League?
