Arsene Wenger has spoken out about his transfer plans for this month.
Arsene Wenger has broken his recent silence on Arsenal's transfer situation.
So far despite being linked with everybody from Adrian Lopez to Mohamed Diame, the Gunners are yet to make their move.
Wenger was speaking to Al Jazeera in an interview broadcast in the UK this morning on TalkSport:
"My plan is to keep all of the players we have and then to add maybe, if possible, two new players to the squad. We will spend big (again) because we had restricted finances because we had built the stadium and had to pay that back.
"Our way is a bit like Barcelona as well, to produce the core of the team from inside and add from outside the players who give really a plus."
It is certainly good news for fans to hear, who probably feared the returning Abou Diaby would be rolled out as Wenger's 'new signing' and that would be it for this month.
Arsenal fans have heard these words before; chief executive Ivan Gazidis promised in December there would be money to spend this month, but the club are yet to show it.
First priority still appears to be getting Theo Walcott's contract tied up; Wenger said he wants to keep the players he has, and that means tying Walcott down despite his poor show against Manchester City at the weekend.
The question is obviously who do Arsenal want to bring in? Signing Thierry Henry on loan for a fortnight will not fool anybody.
Fans believe Arsenal need a striker, a defensive midfielder, a winger and a defender as cover. That's four positions. Wenger has only promised two, so what is Arsenal's biggest priority?
If you can bring in any two players - Who would they be? Who do you expect Arsenal to sign?
