Loic Remy’s name has been bouncing around media rumour mills of late like a sparrow that has mistakenly flown into a greenhouse. The Marseille striker seems certain to move this January and it was highly understood that Newcastle United had won the race, having had an £8m bid accepted by the French club.
With Remy reportedly having arrived on Tyneside on Sunday night to begin talks it has been revealed that QPR have stepped in to highjack the bid. Only last week Remy had refused to even speak to the Loftus Road club, however, if what current Marseille teammate Joey Body say’s is true, it would seem that the French international has had a change of heart.
Never one wanting to be out of the limelight for long Barton put on his special Twitter gloves to reveal, "Watching Patriots. Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR. Not sure what happened at Newcastle probably Llambas again!
"Gift of the gab from Harry Redknapp perhaps? Thought it was done and dusted to Newcastle. Something must of gone amiss. Great news 4 #QPR.”
It is uncertain how much you can trust the written words of a player that probably punches the letters on his keyboard rather than presses them. Yet more reliable sources than Barton seem to suggest that QPR have been given permission to speak to Remy, and that the player will undergo a medical inLondonon Tuesday morning.
It would be a huge blow for Newcastle boss Pardew who had placed Remy at the top of his list to fill the void left by Demba Ba’s move toChelsea. For Harry Redkapp on the other hand it would be a timely boost in his bid to save Queens Park Rangers from the drop. It is understood that QPR are also close to bringing Yann M’Vila toLoftus Roadafter Redknapp flew to France, after Saturday’s draw with Tottenham, to personally watch the player.
I guess that nothing will be made official until Redknapp winds down the window in his car and announces so…
