Liverpool are set to welcome back their first choice defence for the match against Manchester United this weekend. Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger are all expected to play after missing the FA Cup match against Mansfield Town last weekend.

Nuri Sahin has officially cut his loan spell short with Liverpool to rejoin former club Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder was not part of Brendan Rodgers' plans and the Reds wanted to free up his wages. Speculation will now inevitably mount that the money will be put towards new signings.

National newspapers have reported that former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has admitted he wishes he was still at Anfield. Torres was sold to Chelsea for £50 million in January 2011 but has failed to have the same impact in West London that he had on Merseyside.

Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom says it will mean everything to him if he starts against Manchester United this weekend. Wisdom has just signed a new long term contract with the club but is not expected to start in the defence of the side for the match at a hostile Old Trafford.

Former Liverpool great Jan Molby has suggested that Liverpool have what it takes to exploit Manchester United’s weaknesses this weekend. United have routinely fallen behind inn important games this season and Molby is convinced the Anfield club are good enough to protect a lead if they can get one.

Liverpool face a battle with Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of striker Son Heung-Min. Liverpool are thought to be mulling over a £10 million bid for the Hamburg star with Spurs right in the mix for his transfer owing to their lack of attacking options at present.

Liverpool goalkeeper target Asmir Begovic has said he is very happy to remain at Stoke City. Numerous sources have linked the ‘keeper with a move to Anfield since the start of the season with the ongoing rumours that Pepe Reina will be moved on in the summer.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has revealed that he was a Manchester United fan as a youngster. Sterling is expected to start against United this weekend and there were rumours that he might join United, before signing a new long term contract at Anfield.

Raheem Sterling has described current Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as an inspiration. Sterling claims that no one else has done more to look after him during his rise to the top of the English game than the Liverpool skipper. Sterling has singled out Gerrard’s caring nature for special attention.

Liverpool have reached an out of court settlement with all parties involved in the 2010 sale of the club. Legal action was launched after the sale of Liverpool to the Fenway Sports Group was deemed to be flawed by previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
