Some team news now ahead of the fixture with Manchester City on Sunday with Olivier Giroud an injury doubt with a knee problem. Abou Diaby could possibly make the team after coming through an under-21 game this week unscathed but is likely to remain on the bench regardless. Andre Santos is still out s is Lukasz Fabianski.

There is good news ahead of the Super Sunday fixture with Manchester City as Argentine striker Sergio Aguero has been confirmed as absent from the fixture with a hamstring injury. The striker picked up the injury against Stoke on New Year’s Day and was forced to miss the clubs FA Cup tie with Watford last weekend. He is expected to return to first team action in a little over a week which is perfect for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger expects Theo Walcott to sign a new contract with the club within the next three weeks. Walcott has been in extensive contract negotiations with The Gunners for the past few months and initially rejected an offer due to worries over his future positional role at the club and what he believed were non-reflective wages. After impressing up front and being offered a wage increase Wenger feels that Walcott will stay and it is only a matter of time before he signs on the dotted line.

Arsenal have become the latest team to be linked with a move for Marseille forward Loic Remy. The French international has been linked with several teams over the past few months with Newcastle United and QPR considered the favourites for his signature. Now it seems Arsenal may turn their attentions to the potential availability of the front-man to add depth to their attacking line-up; considering his propensity to playing in a front-three and are ready to rival their Premier League opponents to his signature.

Arsenal are ready to get back into the race for England winger Wilfried Zaha. The youngster has been the Championship’s outstanding player so far this season and Manchester United have been considered the favourites to snap him up in recent months. Arsenal had previously angered Ian Holloway and the Palace board with their openness on the deal but they now feel enough time has passed to go back in for the precocious talent.

Arsenal will reportedly battle it out with Fulham for the services of Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. The experienced stopper has been made available for transfer at Italian side AS Roma after falling down the pecking order in recent months. He is reportedly available for a cut-price fee and Arsenal feel he could provide brilliant cover for number one choice Wojciech Szczesny.
