Top target Leandro Damiao says he is not thinking about speculation linking him with Spurs, as he has currently received no offers, despite reports Tottenham were going to bid this week.

The 23-year-old said: "My agent told me that there is no offer, everyone around me knows that I want to stay. But I can't say that I'll stay forever, maybe there will be an offer in the long term and (my future) depends on the president too."

The move has also been talked down by none other than Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, who was the one who raised the possibility in the first place this month.

He said: "Leandro is a player we've always appreciated, that this club appreciated before I arrived, but it's extremely difficult that he's going to join Tottenham.

"He's a player that is highly rated in the market, and it's unlikely that he will play for Tottenham."

Sevilla's club president is in London reportedly to discuss the transfer of star striker Alvaro Negredo. It is no secret Spurs need a forward at present, but Arsenal and Chelsea will strongly compete for his signature, with an asking price of around £15 million. We take a look today at five players, including Negredo, who Sevilla could be forced to sell because of their financial strife.

The Mail are reporting tonight that talks are progressing and Tottenham are in negotiations for Negredo's signature.

However AVB has been busy again, saying that Emmanuel Adebayor traveling to the African Nations Cup may not prompt them to bring in a new striker- Because he is confident in Clint Dempsey's ability to fill the gap.

He said: “I don’t think Adebayor’s decision will affect our transfer policy. We’ve been pretty happy with the options we have available.

“We understand that we can put ourselves in a difficult position if one of our strikers gets injured, but we’ve been in this situation before when Ade was injured, and we managed to go through it. I think we’re able to cope. We always believe in Dempsey as a striker.”

Talksport are reporting that Spurs are competing with Everton to sign French full-back Massimo Haidara. The youngster currently plays for Nancy and almost signed for Aston Villa in the summer.

Rennes have admitted Yann M'Vila wants a transfer, but both club and player say they will only go if the offer is right for all parties, report Sky Sports. Tottenham, Arsenal and QPR are all interested, but it remains to be seen if any transfer will be done this January or instead in the summer. However Spurs have ruled out, for now, the exit of youngster Jake Livermore.

Summer signing Jan Vertonghen says he is only going to get better, an exciting thought for Spurs fans, considering his integral form in helping hold Tottenham's defence together in recent weeks. He said: "I think I’ve done okay, but you haven’t seen my best yet. I think I can improve."

Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Lewis Holtby will only sign in the summer when his contract at Schalke is up. There had been speculation the midfielder could join earlier after signing a pre-contract agreement with Spurs last week.

And finally, Hugo Lloris has been nominated for the Premier Legaue Player of the Month Award. Nick Harris takes a look at the Frenchman's journey so far at Tottenham and what it means for his progress.
