Should Everton fans get prepared for life without David Moyes?

Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 are reportedly interested in tempting the Scotsman to Germany next season and Moyes has previously revealed an ambition to manage abroad; specifically in Germany. Could he be tempted?

David Moyes has done incredible things during his tenure at Everton FC. Running the team on a shoestring budget he has taken them from relegation fodder to regular European candidates. It is that consistency and eye for a transfer that have seen him linked with the managerial vacancy at Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson finally decides that enough is enough.

While on the face of it Moyes often gives the impression of a man happy with his lot; viewing his team with complete clarity knowing that at the right price all are dispensable you cannot help but wonder that a man with his managerial talents does not want a little more than mere appreciation from fans.

He obviously craves silverware; the one thing from his curriculum vitae that is shamefully misleading and he must also yearn for freedom with finances after years of tightening the purse strings on Merseyside.

So it is little surprise that some teams do occasionally wonder if they can talk Moyes into leaving his beloved team for pastures slightly more fruitful.

That appears to be the case this week as Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04; who have outperformed Arsenal in this seasons Champions League are apparently looking into offering the former Preston gaffer the vacant manager’s job at the end of the season.

Former boss Huub Stevens was dismissed last month and currently youth team coach Jens Keller is taking charge of first-team affairs on a temporary basis till the end of the season.

The club are financially secure; however do not go splashing the cash willy-nilly. Nevertheless there is little doubt that Moyes would have freedom in the transfer market nothing like what he has done before; which could tempt him into considering the deal.

But David Moyes managing in the Bundesliga? Surely not.

While it is a growing league with excellent teams and stadia the Premier League surely is its superior and Moyes would not consider switching the two. Or would he?

In an interview with a French magazine last month Moyes mentioned his ambition to one day manage in Germany:

"I always had the hope of being a coach abroad. If I had the choice I would probably go to Germany. In part because of the mentality, which is similar to mine. I'm also fascinated by what happens in German football. They seem to have found a way of producing young players.

While far from a letter of resignation the apparent interest from a Bundesliga side with money in the coffers should certainly have Everton fans at least a little worried.

Do you think Moyes could genuinely go to Schalke 04?
